For my final project I wanted to do something that felt
important and nostalgic to me. I had a great childhood and have a lot of great memories and wanted to
implicate that in this project. What inspired me was the current time of year,
October-December is my absolute favorite time of year. We hit all my favorite
holidays, and my birthday. My favorite holiday, I love the atmosphere, the lights, giving gifts and all the cookies. I remember when I was a kid my mom would have
these Christmas villages put out around this time and I loved looking at these whole other places she would create. So that is why I decided to use these villages to build my own Christmas
scene that I love. I wanted to create a nostalgic Christmas scenes that make
me feel happy about Christmas approaching and felt almost real to anyone who
sees it and enjoys this time of year. I also wanted to use these villages
because they make me think of my mom and my grandmother. A lot of these ceramic
buildings were given to my mom from my grandmother. I never got the chance to
meet her so I feel a sense of connection to her when I see these houses set up.
Christmas is all about family to me, being surrounded by the people that you
love and to celebrate each other. That happy warm feeling is what I wanted to
replicate in these photos.
